We are 3rd Generation pilates coaches trained globally by first and second generation teachers who have worked with the founder himself - Joe Pilates and his original team of teachers.

We have introduced the original format of teaching pilates to New Zealand
- called Opens Studio workouts. We are part of a tiny exclusive global group of pilates coaches, who specialise in this training ( backed by 100s of hours of training and self practice) . Based on top of years of in-depth study and development working with the elders and masters, they always ensure you get the maximum out of your practice.

We are a fully equipped authentic Pilates studio located on Auckland’s North Shore. Classical teachers train pilates via a system of exercises so that each piece of apparatus can be use to support and enhance movement patterns and develop stretch and strength throughout the body. This is much more effective in correcting movement than just one modality/ piece of equipment e.g. reformer, mat.

PLUS Classical Pilates equipment is spring based and we have very strong spring options so it’s resistance training, cardio and stretch in each and every session.

Contrology NZ offers CNZ Open Studio Workouts; classes in the style which Joe Pilates used to operate in the original studio in New York.

We are the only studio in New Zealand to offer Open studio workouts backed by a full year of specialised training through a globally run immersive coaching certification.

CNZ Open Studio sessions mean you are working out simultaneously with up to 4 others in the studio or up to 5 if online through a hybrid format; but you are working on your own programme that’s been designed for you. It’s a unique way to get an effective, full-body workout. You will also build resilience and self awareness as you take on your health journey. All sessions are guided in a motivating and fun atmosphere alongside  a great bunch movers. Choose a membership frequency that suits you. 

Private lessons are also available, and are used as an additional tool to enhance, reshape or adjust your plan based on your needs.
Or they can be used to simply dive a little deeper into the work.

CNZ Open studio sessions mean you are working out simultaneously with up to 4 others in the studio or up to 5 if online through a hybrid format.

Why do Pilates?

Pilates is an exercise system that works your entire body from your centre in each exercise, allowing you to achieve your highest potential in strength, flexibility, balance and control.  It can work as a reformation or as an enhancement  tool , or to allow certain parts of the body to heal through movement.   

These days there are many forms of Pilates; The pure body of work is known as Contrology - which is what we teach at Contrology NZ. Here we have maintained the integrity of the work to provide the best results of this diversely beneficial exercise system .
